Healthy Eating Foods I love

If you are like me you are probably having a hard time getting back on the healthy eating wagon. We tell ourselves that we will only eat unhealthy through the new year, but why do we always wait until the beginning of the year. Why not start earlier? Well as the saying goes new year new me, but why not start working on the new year today. That is what I am starting to do. It is not easy, but it is nice to know that I have a cookbook that is great for healthy meals and the foods I love.

Many of us just love pizza, but we stay away from it because of all the calories and fat. However, my husband and I have found once of our favorite pizza dishes that is not only easy to make, but it also pretty healthy for you.

Deep Dish Pizza Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground round

  • 1 (15-ounce) can chunky Italian-style tomato sauce

  • Cooking Spray

  • 1 (10-ounce) can refrigerated pizza crust dough (I used box pizza crust)

  • 6 (1-ounce slices part-skim mozzarella cheese divided

Instruction

  • Cook meat in a medium nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until browned, stirring until it crumbles. Drain, if necessary and cook until heated.

  • While meat cooks, coat a 12 x 9- x 2-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Spread pizza crust dough on the bottom and halfway up the sides. Put 3 slices of mozzarella cheese. Finish off with meat mixture

  • Bake at 425 degrees uncovered for 12 minutes. Pull out and add the 3 slices of cheese. Bake an additional 5 minutes or until crust is brown and cheese has melted.

Serving: 6
