The Season for Layering

Winter is finally here...whether we really want to admit or not it is here and it is cold! With winter comes new fashion trends with one of those being layering. In my opinion layering first started so you could stay as warm as possible in this awful cold weather. However, as time has gone on layering has become a fashion statement. Everyone loves to layer clothes, but if you are like me you are worried about layering too much and looking like one big marshmallow. There are times where I will stand in front of the mirror for 10 plus minutes after layering a sweater and top to make sure that I do not look like a marshmallow. I hate that I am like this especially because in mind fashion should always be something that is fun. My best advice to you when layering is make sure that you aren't layering too much. You are probably wondering well how do I know if I am layering too much? The answer is stand in front of your mirror if you stand in front of your mirror and looks like you have shoulder pads on or like you are getting ready to go play some football then you have layered too much. Here are some other tips along with some of my favorite layering outfits.

Tips and Tricks

When layering a dress/collar shirt with a sweater you want to make sure that the sweater and

the dress shirt aren't too bulky to begin with. If you start with two or even one bulkier item them it will make you look bigger than you are.

My rule of thumb is to never layer more than 3 items. This is just me because I am so small if I start to put more layers on I start to look bigger and bigger, but I have seen some people layer 4 items and pull it off. Just be cautious.

When layering with a scarf be sure that the top is not too top heavy meaning that there is a lot of material/fabric at the top. If there is then you top part will look heavier or bigger than the lower half of your body.

Have fun! most importantly just have fun when you are layering. Fashion should always be fun so just try new things and if you don't like then try different items.

Layering is definite for this winter so be sure that you don't end up looking like a big marshmallow. Look fashionable while staying warm.
