A Weekend Getaway to Pittsburgh
Top and Necklace: Sweet Ms
Hi Dolls!
A couple of weekends ago my husband and I set out on our weekend getaway to Pittsburgh. This was my very first time ever going to Pittsburgh. My husband is a huge Steelers fan so he had been there a few times before. Instead of really looking into a lot of things to do I decided to just wing it a little bit (not at all like me I am very much a type A personality). The only thing we really had planned going into the weekend was going to the zoo and then we had my husband' cousin's wedding on Saturday (the whole reason for the trip).
Being very much a city girl I instantly fell in love with Pittsburgh even though it wasn't at all what I expected (side note I don't really know what I was expecting. The city itself is older and has a lot of older historic buildings that are so interesting to look at. There are a lot of bridges and tunnels which was one of the biggest surprises because I didn't expect Pittsburgh to have so many hills. Overall the trip was fun and a great getaway. If you are a type A person like me and are planning a trip to Pittsburgh I have listed some places you must stop in.
1. The Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium. The zoo has your typical animals (lions, tigers, and monkeys. However, they also have cheetahs (one of my favs), gorillas (I never saw it), and sea turtles. Overall, for us we spend about 2 hours at the zoo.
2. Carmella's Plates and Pints. This can be found on Carson Street with a lot of other good bars. This one really stood out to me. We found out about the place from the cashier at a local drug store. Carmella's did not disappoint. The atmosphere was just very relaxed and welcoming. One of my favorite parts was being able to sit at the bar and look out the big open front window on to the street. The bar itself offers beers, wines, and whiskeys.
3. Milkshake Factory. This as well is off Carson Street. We happened to be walking down the street and passed it and thought hey why not try it. It did not disappoint. The have a wide variety of things to order from a basic chocolate milkshake to sundaes filled with whip cream and Oreo's.

4. The Incline. FYI if you want to do this be sure you have cash. You take a trolley up to the top of this hill that overlooks the whole city. Very cool to see and great for pictures.
5. Tanger Outlet. I can't go on a trip and not go to a mall! This outlet mall was huge. It offered everything from Under Armour to Loft. We found a lot of good deals at every store. This is a little outside the city, but so worth the drive.
The only thing that we did not get to do which was more for my husband was take a tour of Heinz Field. Have any of you been to Pittsburgh or live there? What are you favorite things to do?
xoxo
