How to Love Others
Hi Loves!
Love it is such an amazing thing. I love my husband more than words can express that is why we had a wedding and got married. It is so easy for us to love the ones that love us back, but we find it hard to love the ones that have done us wrong or who don't really like us. But as Christians we are called to love EVERYONE. Wait hold the phone yes, I said EVERYONE. You are probably thinking I can't do that doesn't God understand that so and so did this awful horrible thing to me, how am I supposed to love them? But if we look at 1 Corinthians 13:1 we see that love is very important.
1 Corinthians 13:1 "If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal"
You are probably saying well I do love the people who I truly know and love me, but we see in John 15:12 we are called to love like God has loved us. Meaning loving everyone even when they have done us wrong.
John 15:12 "This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you"
So, how do we go about truly loving people when they don't always love us back? I have come up with a couple of ways.
1. Learn to forgive. God who is perfect and blameless forgives all of us on a daily even hourly basis. So what right do we have to not forgive others who are just like us?
2. Learn to listen. We live in a world where it is common and acceptable to interrupt people in the middle of their thought and most of the time we interrupt to tell them something about ourselves and not about what they are truly talking about. So be different and lend an ear and not interrupt people when they are telling you a story or something important to them.
3. Learn to put others first. The world we live is very much a "me-focused" world. What will make me happy? What can I do to make more money? Why not stop focusing on what makes you happy and do things that make others happy. God did this by sending His son to die on the cross for us. He knew that he didn't have to, but he wanted so much to have a relationship with us and to show us how much He loved us that he made the most selfish-less act there is.
If you do these 3 things others will start to notice and realize that there is something different about you and will want to know more about why you do care and love them so much.
What are some ways that you find to show others you love them?
xoxo
