Meal Prep

Meal prepping seems to be all the rage right now. There are so many different services out there that will delivery different types of meal prep. Many people opt for this option because they feel like planning themselves it too much. I am here to tell you that meal prepping is not all that hard. It takes me maybe an hour on Sunday to prep all my lunches for the week. I have not started to meal prep for dinner yet. This may come to be when I am staying home with my sweet little boy.

So where to start? A good place to start is Pinterest, there are so many options out there for meal prep. I have a whole board that you can check out here. I have tried a couple of the receipts, but I normally use Pinterest as a starting point. I look at different meal prep ideas and come up with my own. Keep in mind that your meal prep doesn't have to be something fancy. One of my go tos is rice, peppers and tomatoes. Super simple and quick to make. So here are the steps you should follow.

Have enough storage containers// This is a big one in my opinion. You need to be sure that you have enough storage containers for your lunch that week plus additional ones in case you have leftovers from your dinners. I use these ones from TJ Maxx, but honestly you can use any you see fit.

Sit down and find a meal prep idea// Don't just keep pinning all these meal prep ideas. Actually sit down and find one that you actually want to make or tweak to make it your own.

Write down what you need// Don't go to the store without a list even if it one your phone. If you go without a list you will forget things and then it will make the process more difficult.

Go to the store// I usually go to the store on Sunday to get things for my lunches that week. It is just easier for me to make a special trip just for my lunches. I suggest if you go to Church or are doing something else on a Sunday to go after you get done. There are times where I don't go when I am already out and then I struggle to make it there.

Start Cooking// Once I get home from the store I usually start cooking right away. This just helps me to keep motivated. If you think you can get motivation to get back up and cook after putting everything away and doing something else then by all means do that.

Put away and Store// Once I have everything cooked I put them in their separate containers and put them in the fridge.

Meal prep should not be something that is dreaded but something that is part of you reaching your goals. It is not as hard as it seems. It just takes you making the time for it.

xoxo
